ICP Lecture Series: Lucas Foglia 10/22/2014

Date Aug 13, 2015
Type Lecture

Lucas Foglia is a documentary photographer. Having grown up on a farm in Long Island, New York, Foglia's parents were part of the "back-to-the-land" movement of the 1960s and '70s; much of Foglia's work strongly reflects this connection to the bucolic. Of particular focus is how those who presently live off-the-grid straddle the disjunction between the ancestral and the modern. Foglia's first monograph, A Natural Order, was published by Nazraeli Press in 2012 to international critical acclaim. His photographs have been widely exhibited in the United States and in Europe, and are in the permanent collections of museums including the Denver Art Museum; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Philadelphia Museum of Art; and the Victoria & Albert Museum in London. Nazraeli Press published Foglia's second monograph, Frontcountry, in April 2014.
