Tim Walker is our 2009 recipient for Applied/Fashion/Advertising Photography

Tim Walker is a photographer based in London. His interest in photography was sparked by his experience at Condé Nast, where he set up the Cecil Beaton Archive. After graduating from Exeter Art College, he worked as a freelance photographic assistant before working as Richard Avedon's assistant in New York.

His career as a photographer was launched when he came in third in the Independent Young Photographer of the Year Awards, and he went on to contribute to high-profile magazines including Vogue, W, Vanity Fair, and Harper's Bazaar. He has also shot advertising campaigns for clients including Neiman Marcus, Barneys, Comme des Garçons, Gap, and Yohji Yamamoto, among others. His work was the subject of an exhibition at the Design Museum of London from May through September 2008 and his first book, Pictures, was published by teNeues in May 2008.
