2002 Infinity Award: Lifetime Achievement

Michael Hoffman was the Executive Director of Aperture Foundation from 1965 until his passing in 2001. During his tenure, Aperture expanedd from a small quarterly magazine to one of the most respected publishers of photographic books and exhibitions. He was directly involved in the creation and production of over 450 titles and more than 100 issues of Aperture. Under Hoffman’s leadership, Aperture became the caretaker of the Paul Strand Archive and Library and opened the Burden Gallery.
