1989 Infinity Award: Design

Michael Rand is art director of The Sunday Times Magazine, a post he has held since 1963. Rand helped build the magazine into a showcase for some of the world's best photographers. He has commissioned work from Diane Arbus, Richard Avedon, Mary Ellen Mark, Don McCullin, Terry O'Neill, Sebastião Salgado, and many others. He has said that his vision for the magazine is: “grit plus glamour—fashion juxtaposed with war photography and pop art.”
