Jay Maisel turned to photography in 1954 after studying painting and design. His work includes portraiture as well as advertising and commercial work for clients including Sports Illustrated and New York Magazine. Maisel shot five Sports Illustrated swimsuit covers and the iconic album cover of Miles Davis’ Kind of Blue.
