1988 Infinity Award: Master of Photography
Alfred Eisenstaedt is the 1988 recipient of the Master of Photography award
Alfred Eisenstaedt has frequently been described as the father of photojournalism. He was one of a handful of pioneers who developed photo reportage in the late 1920s and 1930s, coincident with the emergence of high-speed Leica cameras. Eisenstaedt was a staff photographer for Life Magazine, where he shot scores of covers, including the iconic image of a sailor kissing a nurse on V-J Day in Times Square.
