1999 Infinity Award: Photojournalism

Alexandra Boulat is a veteran observer of the disintegration of the former Yugoslavia and has chronicled the country’s demise for the last eight years. She has photographed the independence of Slovenia; the war in Croatia; the fall of Vukor; and the war in Bosnia, including the sieges of Sarajevo and Mostar. Her two trips to Kosovo, where she seized the opportunity to chronicle a land and people ripped apart by war, have rewarded her with unparalleled photographs. Her Kosovo images have been published in newspapers and international magazines.
