Summary

The International Center of Photography Documentary Practice and Visual Journalism Program is pleased to offer an internship for a journalism student interested in photography, history, magazines, research, and organization. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with our collection as well as other sources relating to the practice and consideration of photography. Projects involve updating lecture materials, research, organizing files, scanning, and basic office needs.

The preferred candidate is a motivated problem solver with an interest in documentary photography and visual journalism. Applicants should have some practical experience with Lightroom, Keynote, and Excel. The intern will have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, and will feel comfortable working semi-independently with materials. Hands-on experience with documentary photography history-related subject matter is preferred but not necessary

Learning Opportunities

Potential Duties

  • Update lectures with more recent contemporary photographers
  • Research unknown work and articles
  • Organize and update alumni records

  • Interest in the profession
  • Coursework/experience in documentary photography or journalism
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to details
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Ability to work independently; ability to take direction; willingness to ask questions
