ICP welcomes Johnny Miller, acclaimed food photographer known for his collaborations with Angie Mar, Bobby Flay, Martha Stewart, Benny Blanco, and Alex Guarnaschelli, among others, in conversation with senior vice president and creative director of The Crown Publishing Group’s Clarkson Potter, Marysarah Quinn. Miller will discuss how his creative projects led him to the culinary industry and pushed him to embrace a new vision in how we photograph and think about food photography, leading to his James Beard Award for Photography for his work in Cook Beautiful.

Johnny Miller was born and raised in Lawrence, Kansas. He earned his BFA at Parsons School of Design / The New School. After graduating from Parsons, he assisted Mary Ellen Mark for three years.Then shortly after became staff photographer for Martha Stewart. His photography has been exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Photography, New York Historical Society, Museum of Modern Art, Center for Photography, and the Museum of the City of New York. His work is included in the permanent collections at the George Eastman House, Library of Congress, and the New York Historical Society. He is also co-authour of Coney Island (Trans Photographic Press, Paris 2010). Johnny is the Winner of the James Beard Award for photography / Cook Beautiful and Winner of the Best Photograph, Guild Hall East Hampton, NY Artist Member Show.
Marysarah Quinn is senior vice president and creative director of The Crown Publishing Group’s Clarkson Potter, publisher of lifestyle books and gift products. She has spent her more than 30-year career as an art director at the imprints of Penguin Random House. Her books have been featured in the AIGA 50 Books/50 Covers show, the James Beard Awards, the Book Industry Guild of New York’s Annual New York Book Show, the International Association of Culinary Professionals Cookbook Awards and Print magazine. Quinn’s lifelong obsession with food, books and art made publishing a natural career destination.

ICP is thrilled to honor Naomi Rosenblum’s contribution to the field and to further her life’s work through this lecture series. Naomi Rosenblum was one of the leading photography historians of her generation and the author of A World History of Photography and A History of Women Photographers.
