Exhibition Sponsorship
Exhibition sponsorship at ICP offers significant marketing and philanthropic opportunities. From presentations of early-nineteenth-century photography to the latest trends in digital media, ICP's exhibitions reflect the depth and range of the medium and are among the most important photography exhibitions in the world. Sponsorship and underwriting opportunities are available at various levels. Supporters—individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies—contribute to ICP's mission to offer new insights and knowledge to a diverse audience.
Exhibition sponsorship opportunities include:
- Lead sponsorship of exhibitions in the ICP galleries
- Underwriting educational components, such as gallery lectures and tours, symposia, and panel discussions
- Supporting the publication of exhibition catalogues and educational brochures
- Supporting free tours for New York City school groups
- Underwriting national and/or international tours of ICP exhibitions
Benefits of exhibition sponsorship include:
- Sponsorship credit in all exhibition and program materials, including signage, press releases, opening invitations, and the ICP website
- Private, curator-led tours of exhibitions for corporate employees and clients
- Opportunity to host private events in ICP's galleries
Program Funding
In addition to general support of ICP, a variety of program funding opportunities are also available through ICP's numerous educational and outreach activities. Your support will contribute to ICP's efforts to bring the world of photography to both local and international audiences of all ages.
Programs include:
- ICP Permanent Collection: The Permanent Collection has grown to over 100,000 images and includes the Cornell and Robert Capa Archives, as well as works by all of the twentieth century's leading photographers. Your support will contribute to ICP's conservation efforts.
- The School at ICP: Founded in 1974 along with the museum, the School offers part-time courses, travel programs, two full-time certificate programs, an MFA program, and classes for youth. Sponsorship opportunities include supporting the Library, the Digital Media Lab, and education programs in general.
- Scholarships: The School at ICP offers two full-time certificate programs: in General Studies; and in Photojournalism and Documentary Studies; and a full-time, two-year MFA degree in Advanced Photographic Studies. Scholarship support will aid ICP's efforts to provide professional training and education to the next generation of photographers by giving students with valuable financial assistance at the beginning of their careers.
- Community Programs: These programs, which serve over 5,000 young people each year, include an in-school partnership, collaborations with community organizations, and classes based at ICP. Community Programs provide youth from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds with hands-on photography education that explores the techniques, aesthetics, history, and business of the medium. You may choose to support a specific program or all of ICP's Community Programs. Your sponsorship ensures that ICP will be able to continue to offer these activities free of cost or to provide scholarships to young participants, many of whom have little or no access to arts programs in their neighborhoods.
- Free-admission Friday evenings. Between the hours of 5 and 8 pm on Fridays, ICP offers admission to its galleries by voluntary contribution. Underwriters for this valued service to the public will be acknowledged on signage in the museum lobby as well as on all printed program materials and on the ICP website.
Event Underwriting
Various opportunities exist for underwriting annual benefit events or other special events that may arise, providing sponsors with significant exposure and credit. Recent events have included casino nights, theater events, and benefit auctions of photographs or food and wine. The most prominent annual event for the International Center of Photography is the Infinity Awards.
- Annual Infinity Awards for Excellence in Photography: ICP's Infinity Awards were established in 1984 to honor outstanding achievements in photography. These prestigious awards are presented at a gala event held in May of each year before an international audience of over 700 guests, including professionals in the fields of fashion, photography, design, and communications; corporate patrons of the arts; and individual collectors and philanthropists. A state-of-the-art multimedia presentation features the recipient's work with narration and a specially commissioned musical background.
