Facility

The Library, serving more than 6,000 visitors a year, is New York City's only library dedicated to the practice of photography. The information and bibliographic resources it provides are used by ICP staff, patrons, and scholars from around the world. The Library currently receives 75 periodicals and serials, and its collection of approximately 15,000 volumes and 2,000 files is available for on-site perusal.

The Library is open to staff, interns, ICP members, and students during its regular hours. It is open to the public by appointment only. Admission is free.

Friends of the Library

Members of the Friends of the Library become knowledgeable about the Library through meetings with prominent photographers, authors, and publishers in which they explore the art and technique of the photographic book. The committee works to increase the Library's holdings and acts as an advocate for the expansion of its programs, services, and outreach.

The Friends of the Library Committee is chaired by Stephanie Shuman and Evan Mirapaul.

Support the Library

You can help sustain the Library's collection with a gift toward the purchase of books, including monographs, exhibition catalogues, histories, and more. For a gift of $100 or more, a bookplate will be installed recognizing your contribution.
