This year, Getty Images is the recipient of a special ICP Trustees Award for outstanding contributions to the field of photography. The award salutes Getty Images for its dramatic advancement of the photographic industry. By revolutionizing the stock photography market, Getty Images has helped create a thriving, modernized industry that is meeting the changing needs of visual communicators.
In September 2005, the company was honored with the Business Excellence Award for Innovation by the Global Business Coalition (GBC) on HIV/AIDS. Throughout 2005, Getty Images waived license fees to help many nonprofit organizations and charities gather support for their efforts-including organizations engaged in relief work after the tsunami in South Asia, the hurricanes in the United States, and the earthquake in Pakistan.

Also in 2005, American Photo magazine recognized the company's commitment to the photographic industry by naming co-founders Mark Getty and Jonathan Klein “number one” among “The 100 Most Important People in Photography.”
In 2006, the company launched "Change Me," an online forum that uses powerful imagery to bring people together to share ideas. For each submission, Getty Images makes a donation to the Friends of the Global Fight against AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria. Since 2004, the Getty Images Grant for Editorial Photography has provided grants to individual photographers to fund, support, and inspire global talent in photojournalism.
The ICP Trustees Award also honors Getty's generous financial support for the International Center of Photography, including a significant Capital Campaign contribution, multi-year sponsorship of the Infinity Awards, support for ICP's public programs, and a special scholarship for a promising South African student to study at the ICP School.
