ICP's community programs brings the rewards of photographic expression to people of every age and background, through gallery tours, workshops, family programs, and teen classes, as well as off-site partnerships with schools, community centers, and other cultural institutions. By creating opportunities for photographic education, ICP enables individuals to explore photography as a way of understanding themselves and the bonds that form a community.

High School of Fashion Industries: Designing the Future
June 4–Fall 2009
HSFI, Principal's Gallery, Room 821, 225 West 24th Street
This exhibition features photographs created by high school students and faculty members who participated in ICP's Community Partnership with the High School of Fashion Industries. The program features a curriculum designed by ICP and HSFI, which includes an in-school foundation photography course, an afterschool beginners' class for students and teachers, and an intermediate documentary workshop. This yearlong program takes place in a state-of-the-art teaching facility built by ICP, which includes a ten-station darkroom, a film-processing area, and a studio/classroom.

Teen Internship Exhibition

ICP's Teen Academy Internship Program enables eighteen motivated teenagers to advance their photography skills and develop an awareness of the creative and professional responsibilities in the field. By the end of the program, students have created an extensive portfolio, including an artist's statement and resume, and are honored in an gallery exhibition. Join us to celebrate the achievements of the photographers who participated in the 2007–2008 Internship Program.
The Gallery is open Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm.

What Inspires Me is an exhibition of work by ICP at The Point youth photographers. Using cameras to observe and reveal their lives, the images reflect the people, places, and things that symbolize hope, represent passions, stand for strength, and nurture their dreams. From one photograph to the next, the extraordinary qualities of everyday life emerge.

Friends of Island Academy: Breaking Free

ICP's Community Partnership with Friends of Island Academy empowers young men and women to share their voices through photography and writing. Breaking Free is a culminating slide presentation and reading that celebrates the achievements of this year's students. Their work reflects the theme of empowerment; using images and words to reveal what it means to feel strong, to overcome challenges, to work together, to succeed, and to feel free.
