Henry Peach Robinson: Master of Photographic Art, 1830–1901
JANUARY 12–FEBRUARY 25, 1990
The exhibition commemorates Henry Peach Robinson's artistic efforts to refute claims against photography's inability to be considered an art form like painting. His images capture the classic subjects of painting in precisely planned and composed scenes and with strong narrative content. Curated by Dr. Margaret Harker, Emeritus Professor at the Central London Polytechnic. Organized by the National MUseumof Photography, Film and Television, Bfradford, England.
The New York City presentation is supported by the New York State Council on the Arts.
