The Art of Persuasion: A History of Advertising Photography

This exhibition examines the evolution of this vital medium in a survey that is the first of its kind. The works span 1865–1987 and are notable for their innovation and pictorial quality.
Richard Avedon, Hiro, Lotti Jacobi, Annie Liebovitz, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy, Sarah Moon, Irving Penn, August Sander, Edward Steichen, Deborah Turbeville, Pete Turner and others. Curated by Robert Sobieszek, Director of Photographic Collections at the International Museum of Photogrpahy at the GEH. Organized by the International Museum of Photography at George Eastman House and sponsored by the Professional Photography Division of Eastman Kodak Company and American Photographer Magazine.
