Join Brooklyn-based Flex artist and performer Cal Hunt on Instagram Live for a performative dance inspired by the CONTACT HIGH: A Visual History of Hip-Hop exhibition and Spotify playlist. Following the performance, Cal will be joined by flex dancer Droid (Rafael Burgos) to discuss the history of flex dance, its relation to hip-hop, and finding inspiration during this period of self-isolation. 

This program will take place on Instagram Live through ICP’s Instagram page. To view, log into the Instagram app and follow @ICP. The program will start at 7 PM and can be viewed via Instagram Story or by clicking on @ICP’s profile image. It will be archived on @ICP’s Instagram profile after the program. 

Bios

Cal Hunt is a flex dancer born and based in Brooklyn. He has been performing in the flex style for fourteen years. Following his debut in the Flexn Show at the Park Avenue Armory in 2015, he began touring internationally with the dream ring collective through England, France, Germany, and Australia, among other countries. After performing at the Opera National de Paris in Les Indes Galantes, Cal aims to show the world his life through dance with a mission to promote a language that brings us together. 

Rafael “Droid” Burgos or King Droid is a born and bred Brooklyn native. He has been flexn since 2010, a dance style born in Brooklyn rooted in the Jamaican culture. Before he was serious about dance he was serious about artwork animation, singing, and performing arts. He incorporates his passion for the arts in his dancing to this day. His style is very animated and technical and his dance style is described as “mechanical” hence his name, DROID.
