Julie Pochron's photographs combine elements from two equally commodified sources, fashion photography and food photography. Shooting in-camera multiple exposures and printing large-scale analogue type c prints she combines the glossy flare of a fashion magazine to the complex first bite of an unexpected hors d'oeuvre. Her sensuous handling of photography opens the way for a deeply polymorphic interpretation of the imagery. Pochron's often wry and sometimes ribald sense of humor encourages us to delve in to these complex self-portraits and in turn experience our own sense of umami.

Pochron owns and operates Pochron Studios LLC where she practices her art of master printing for some of the most influential artists of today. She also teaches photography at Pratt Institute.
