The Telltale Book's creator enlivened portraits of family and friends by creating dynamic page spreads that incorporate witty texts clipped from newspapers and magazines. An image of a man and woman is captioned "Married or going to be?", a picture of the album maker being chased by ax-wielding Aunt Ida is labeled "A narrow escape," and a stiff family portrait of father, mother, and daughter is titled "Married man's troubles." These juxtapositions create a humorous album, which, the maker noted on the album's final page, was "to be continued."
