ICP Lecture Series: George Steinmetz 10/1/2014

Date Aug 12, 2015

George Steinmetz's 25-year career as a photographer has taken him to the furthest pockets of the globe. His peregrinations set out to illuminate the earth's quickly dwindling secrets, and by no ordinary means: Steinmetz photographs from a motorized paraglider, providing a unique perspective on mysterious terrain and cultures. Since the late '80s, Steinmetz has contributed 31 major photo essays to National Geographic, and 25 to GEO magazine in Germany. He is the recipient of a National Science Foundation grant (2006), and has much received much recognition, including awards and citations from Pictures of the Year, Overseas Press Club, and LIFE magazine's Alfred Eisenstaedt Awards.
