Biography

Documentary photographer Marc Asnin was born in Brooklyn and resides in New York City. His work has appeared in magazines such as The New Yorker; The New York Times Magazine; Time; and Newsweek. Since 1981 Asnin has photographed his Uncle Charlie and his family, amassing a raw, unflinching collection of images that tell the story of one man's struggle with mental illness, poverty, drug addiction, and profound isolation.
Asnin has taught at the International Center of Photography and the School of Visual Arts and his images are in the permanent collections of the Museum of Modern Art and the Museum of the City of New York.
