This highly visible position is the security supervisor for both the Museum and School/Administration sites. This position is responsible for maintaining an acceptable level of security; enhancing overall visitor satisfaction by providing a secure, safe, engaging, and informative experience for the ICP visitors and staff; and protecting the art and other property. The Visitor Services Supervisor manages and works alongside the visitor services guards who serve as ICP's security and visitor services staff.

Essential Functions

• Ensure that security and safety policies and procedures are followed

• Train frontline staff in basic security procedures and manage the visitor services guards

• Serve as ambassadors throughout the School and gallery, answering questions, and directing visitors all the while ensuring the safety and security of our visitors and the gallery

• Respond to reports from staff regarding unsafe or inappropriate situations, following up as needed

• Keep up to date on daily basis on all activities at ICP

• Check on security and cleanliness of public areas; report anything inappropriate to the proper department

• Perform galleries and School check throughout the day; report any issues to the proper department

• Stock informational material throughout the day

• Must be available for evenings and weekends

Additional Responsibilities

• Keep reception area tidy and properly stocked

• Set up large tables and chairs for lectures, receptions, etc. as required

• Assist at special events; cover additional hours as needed

• Cover front desk as needed

• Other responsibilities as assigned

Work Experience

• Previous security experience


• Polite and professional presentation

• Excellent people skills; an ability to read people's needs during their visit

• Ability to remain calm under pressure an during emergencies

• Superior communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills

• Excellent follow through

• Knowledge of or an interest in photography preferred

• Knowledge of foreign languages preferred

Minimum Education Required

• Security training

• High School diploma or equivalent

Dress Code

• Top and outerwear with ICP logo

• Dark slacks or skirt

• Appropriate, clean footwear

Working Conditions

Physical Demands:

• Significant face-to-face and telephone contact with the public

• Will spend most of the work day standing in ICP's public spaces

• Position requires setting up large tables and chairs under time constraints

• Some light lifting

Special Environmental Factors:

• Can be cool in the winter

• Can be noisy
