Sales Assistant

Supervisor: Director of Retail Operations
Schedule: Part-time (approximately 25 hours/week)
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Position Summary

As a sales assistant, you will be working on the floor to assist in maximizing sales and to help with customer inquiries. Candidates should possess knowledge of photography and photographic history as well as strong customer service skills, be outgoing, and project a professional demeanor and appearance. Good organizational skills are a must. Please see below for essential functions

Essential Functions

• Maximize sales by delivering outstanding customer service to all customers
• Provide help to our customers to ensure that they have a great shopping experience
• Keep books well organized, the store today, and all shelves stocked and arranged alphabetically
• Ring purchases on the cash register
• Arrange for books/gifts to be shipped to customers' homes
• Take mail order requests and inquiries in the store
• Follow up on customer inquiries with regard to special orders, book information, etc.

Additional Responsibilities

• Open register at the start of day
• Close register at end of shift
• Merchandise the store and window
• Additional responsibilities as assigned

Minimum Education Required

High School graduate preferred

Qualifications/Skills

• Passion for photography books and willingness to learn and share knowledge
• Outstanding customer service skills
• Solid communication skills
• Commitment as a team member
• Additional languages helpful

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Physical Demands
• Occasional lifting of large boxes of books
• Constant lifting of individual books and other store items
• Light housekeeping of store

Special Working Conditions
Will need to be able to maneuver around store
